Priorities

As a candidate in the Wellington Shire Council elections, I will bring fresh ideas and new perspective. I will focus on:

Gender Equality

Community Connection

Positive Change

Community Connection

1. Welcome Pack for New Residents

Establish a comprehensive welcome pack for new residents, available in both digital and hard copy formats for accessibility. This pack will provide essential information about the Wellington Shire, including local services, amenities, and community resources, helping new residents settle in and feel connected to their new community.

2. 'Cuppa up with a Councillor' Program

I will introduce a monthly 'Cuppa up with a Councillor' program, offering residents the opportunity to meet with a councillor from their ward to discuss concerns, share feedback, and build stronger connections with their local representatives.

3. Community Hub on Council Website

Create an area on the Council website where residents can access information on social, service, and sporting clubs, as well as community events and initiatives. This hub will serve as a one-stop destination for residents to discover and engage with local community resources, fostering greater connectivity and participation within the Wellington Shire.

These initiatives aim to enhance community connection, engagement, and participation, ultimately creating a more vibrant and connected community for all residents.

Protecting our Natural Environment

The natural environment is one of the greatest assets of our Coastal Ward, and I am deeply committed to its preservation and sustainability. As a region blessed with stunning coastlines, wetlands, and forests, it is our responsibility to protect these areas for future generations while also embracing the benefits that come with new, innovative projects.

The transition to renewable energy is one of the most important challenges and opportunities our region faces. With offshore wind farms and other renewable projects on the horizon, we must balance growth with careful planning and environmental responsibility. I believe that these developments should not only address climate challenges but also enhance the quality of life for our residents, creating local jobs and long-term sustainability for our community.

I am committed to making informed decisions about how these projects are implemented to ensure they are environmentally sound, benefit our local economy, and provide lasting positive outcomes for our community. As your councillor, I will ensure that the voices of our residents are heard throughout the process and that we move forward in a way that preserves the natural beauty and ecological health of our region.

Enhanced Liveability

The future of Wellington Shire hinges on making strategic decisions that ensure the long-term growth, prosperity, and well-being of our community. I believe the key to achieving this is through careful planning that focuses on liveability, opportunities for our younger generations, and thoughtful development.

As our region grows, we must prioritise infrastructure that not only supports our current needs but also prepares us for the future. This means improving roads, public transport, and digital connectivity, but it also involves fostering local businesses, supporting sustainable industries, and creating spaces where our community can thrive.

Our Shire is at a unique crossroads, with renewable energy projects, such as offshore wind farms, bringing exciting possibilities. If managed properly, these initiatives can help power our region, create jobs, and position the Wellington Shire as a leader in sustainable innovation. I’m committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure these developments benefit everyone and set the stage for a vibrant, resilient future.

I believe the future of Wellington Shire should be one where opportunity is accessible to all – whether it's families looking for a great place to raise children, businesses seeking to grow, or younger residents finding career opportunities close to home. As your councillor, I’ll focus on promoting growth that enhances our quality of life while keeping our natural environment and community values at the heart of every decision.
